2008 Peak Performance Maine Time Trail Series Concludes.

September 29, 2008

When Hurricane Kyle visited the northeast coastline, the excessive rain caused dangerous racing conditions in Cumberland.  Unfortunately, Portland Velo Club (PVC) had to cancel the final time trial of the 2008 Peak Performance Maine Time Trial Series presented by Aegis Racing Bikes.

The series rules originally stated the final results would be based upon the best nine scores out of the twelve scheduled races.  Many series participants were counting on this final race, the Maine State TT Championships, for the double points it carried.  This cancellation definitely had an impact on the overall results of the series. With the cancellation of the SMCC Time Trial in August and the loss of the Maine State Championships, the series executive committee chose to score the series based on a rider’s best seven scores in the ten races that were held – the same proportion as originally planned.

Not only did the heavy rain cancel the race, but the year-end celebration and awards barbeque were also cancelled.  In its place, gold, silver and bronze engraved medals will be mailed to the top three in each division as well as the top five in the overall standings for women and men.  In addition, matted photographs of the winning racers will be mailed at a later date.

We are also excited to present two fabulous new perpetual trophies that will be awarded to the first place overall male and female winners. These trophies will rotate each year to the new winners. You can check out the unique framed trophy design here.

This year’s top five overall women include
:

       First Place:           Erin Brennan
       Second Place:       Liddy Hubbell
       Third Place:          Carol Meader
       Fourth Place:        Lynda Colson-Hendrick
       Fifth Place:           Paula Lunt

The top five overall men include:

       First Place:          Fred Thomas
       Second Place:      John Meerse
       Third Place:         Doug Chiasson
       Fourth Place:       Daniel Hickey
       Fifth Place:          Seth Booker

The two quality bike frames donated by Aegis Bicycles and to be built up by Peak Performance were to be raffled at the year-end celebration.  Racers received raffle tickets based upon participation and performance, the more races completed and the better one placed, the more tickets the racer received.  To see how many tickets you have in the drawing, click here.

This raffle will be held at an awards dinner at a time and place to be announced shortly.  Also, at this gathering, we will be donating gift certificates to lucky recipients.  Check back here for more information on this fun night.
