Why you’ll want to attend this year’s annual Bike Coalition of Maine Silent Auction and Fundraiser.

May 15, 2008

There are four ways to support this year’s annual Bike Coalition of Maine (BCM) Silent Auction and Fundraiser, all of them awesome.

This year’s event, to be held at Flatbread Pizza on May 20 from 5-9 p.m., organizers only ask you eat great pizza, bid on auction items, drink Shipyard beer and buy a super raffle ticket to win an Aegis bike or a bike trip to Tuscany.

Flatbread will donate $3.50 for every large pizza and $1.75 for every small pizza sold that day.  That includes take-out. Shipyard will donate one dollar for every Shipyard beer consumed and there’s no set limit.

There are twenty-five auction items including bike gear, trips, art, outdoor activity gift certificates and hotel lodging. It’s a silent auction. You can view most of the items on-line at http://www.bikemaine.org/flatbread.htm

If you want to make a bid before the auction, you can call the BCM office at 623-4511.  The bidding starts at 30% of the full value of each item so there are some great deals to be had.

The big deal Super Raffle ticket first prize winner will receive an Aegis bicycle worth $4500. Second prize is a VBT Bicycling Vacations tour of Tuscany. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Each ticket costs $50. For more on the raffle, go here.

BCM is the only organization in Maine whose mission is to make Maine accessible and safe for all residents and visitors so they may comfortably and responsibly bicycle. So the more you’re willing to drink, eat, bid and the more raffle tickets you buy, the more BCM can work towards achieving their mission.
