Pyle and Buterbaugh win the Bridgton Four on the Fourth.
July 5, 2008Stan Pyle, 27 of South Casco, and Carry Buterbaugh, 36 of South Portland, won the Bridgton Four on the Fourth Friday. Pyle finished in 20:26, a 5:06 pace. Buterbaugh, who also won the women’s overall last year, clocked in at 23:26.
The weather was firecracker clear and more than 1,600 runners, a mix of summer people and locals, showed up to celebrate this fast course.
Donald Drake, 23 of Portland, took second in 20:28 and Sean Livingston, 39 of Barrington, Rhode Island, placed third in 20:38.
Mandy Ivey, 20 of South Paris, came in second in the women’s division with a time of 23:55. Anne Martin, 25 of Auburn, was third in 24:09.
Jeanne Hackett, 49 of Scarborough, was there with several of her athletes training for the Peak Performance Maine Marathon. Hackett, fourth overall, won her age group with a time of 25:20. Our own Francis Bauer smoked the course in 26:36.
James Lefarge, 17 of Cumberland, won the Men’s 10-18 with a time of 22:08. And Erica Jesseman, 19 of Scarborough, won the Female 19-24 in 26:11. Peter Bottomley, 46 of Cape Elizabeth, won the Men’s 45-49 in 21:43.
