Peak onsite support at Ironman Lake Placid for all Maine participants!
July 15, 2008After months and months of training, the 42 Mainers signed up to compete in this year’s Ironman USA Lake Placid, New York, on July 20 are now making final preparations for the big event.
Our Peak/Team Nor'Easter support crew will be on site to assist any racers in need. In fact, we are bringing our support tents, loads of bike parts, food, cool drinks and more. Have your family and friends look for our blue Peak Performance tents set up beside the tennis courts on Saturday and Sunday, if you need anything or a meeting place!
One of our bike mechanics Nat Steele, who has also competed in Lake Placid as well as other Ironmen events, will be on hand Thursday evening through Saturday's bike check-in from 10:00am-3:00pm. He will be arriving in Lake Placid on Thursday afternoon and staying at the Whiteface Chalet in Wilmington and can be reached either there or at 603-651-8687.
The Ironman is the most internationally renowned race of its kind, drawing people from all over the world for the chance to swim 2.4 miles, then bike 112 miles, then run a marathon (26.2 miles). This year Ironman Lake Placid celebrates it’s tenth year and is currently the only full Ironman event in the Northeast. In attendance will be an international field limited to a little more than 2,000 racers.
On Sunday, all racers can be tracked live throughout the course with split times, pace, transition and position information. To follow racers, go to here and look for the Athlete Tracker link which will be posted at the start of the event. You can track racers by last name and bib numbers.
