Spinelli and Wellons win Sunday’s Yarmouth Clam Festival Bike Race.

Justin Spinelli of New Hampshire, racing for the KBS/Medifast Pro Cycling Team, won the Yarmouth Clam Festival Bike Race in Yarmouth Sunday in the men’s pro 1/2/3 category in 1:22:58:28. Ward Solar of Connecticut, on the Nerac Cycling team, took second in 1:23:31:13. Third went to Damien Colfer of New Hampshire, competing for Mechanical Services/ Cycle Mania in 1:23:34:25, and fourth went to teammate Brendan Cornett in 1:23:34:51.

Rebecca Wellons of Massachusetts, with NEBC/Cycle Loft/ Devonshire Dent, took the women’s open in 57:52.15. Second place went to Sally Annis of New Hampshire. The teammate of Wellons finished with a time 57:52:28. Third place went to Marian Stover, with Portland Velo/ Drummond Custom C. Stover, finished in 57:52:31. Stover, 37 of North Yarmouth, is a two-time masters national champion in cyclo-cross and was competing in her fifth Clam Festival race. 

Linscott Real Estate Racing, sponsored in part by Peak Performance Multisport, saw Brian Linscott clock in at 1:24:00:08, followed by George Benington in 1:24:00:09. Deirdre Vander Schaaf with Linscott took a fifth in the women’s division in 57:52:80. Stephanie Chase of Scarborough, racing for Boston-based International Bicycle Centers, finished 10th in 57:54:55. And Linscott’s Kendra Jarratt finished in 58:07:9.

Fifty-five men and 22 women competed in the event sponsored by the Portland Velo Club (PVC), the largest cycling club in Maine. The men race 10 3.6-mile loops for a distance of 36 miles. The women race 21.6 miles.
