Winn and Gosztyla at York’s Four on the Fourth.
July 6, 2008Bob Winn, one of Maine’s most decorated runners, won Friday’s Four on the Fourth 4-miler in York, beating out a field of more than 945 runners with a time of 21:10.
Winn, 50 of Ogunquit, said he won by hanging on “for dear life.” Amy Gosztyla, 29 of Dover, New Hampshire, won the women’s division, finishing seventh overall in 22:51.
Dakota Rees, 19 of Kittery Point, took second in 21:29 and Steve Hennigar, 22 of Rye, New Hampshire, finished third 21:35.
Lesley Hocking, 24 of Dover, New Hampshire – battling all the way with Gosztyla – took second in the women’s division in 22:55. Jo Fickenscwer, 23 of Durham, New Hampshire, came in third in 23:22.
